Absolutely. That training would be of great assistance in understanding the criminal mind and how it works. You may find someday that you are tracking a serial killer or rapist etc. and you need to be able to anticipate their next move.Everyone uses psychology to a certain extent in everyday life.Very few have FORMAL training of the human mind and how we think as a class of people all of differing backgrounds and upbringings.

I think you may have the wrong idea about being a copy compared to being an FBI agent. A degree in any social science, including psychology, will help to a degree in dealing with some people. But the police have to deal with the scum of the earth, the poor of the earth, the injured, etc., all which require some sensitivity, tack and ability to read if a person is manipulating. But I think if you knew that you will be working a variety of shifts and days off, going to court during times you should be asleep or on your days off, WHEN do you expect you have time to go back to graduate school?

it will definitely be used to your advantage and everything helps.
law enforcement agencies do not specifically request a degree in criminal justice/police science/law enforcement.
all they ask for is 60 college credits. . . it doesnt really matter what your degree is in because they teach you everything on the street and in the academy.
most agencies are just looking for the fact that you started something and committed to it.

I think it would be a good idea for a cop to do that. It would help him/her to understand why people do the things they do
