With all the stuff that is going on in school for some kids (bullying) they would probably feel better knowing that you are feeling the way you do. If my child came to me, I wouldn't laugh. I would want to help fix the problem. So tell them straight out, print out a sheet of the questions you answered and tell them that you have some concerns over the fact that you answered yes to most of those questions. Your parents will most likely be concerned and want to know why you feel the way you do. Good luck!

If you think you have depression, that is a serious matter. If you sit them down and look them in the eye and tell them you suspect that, and they laugh, that is more of a serious matter.
You may not have depression, either, and may be going through a tough time...or sometimes you just feel down because life is always the same and you need to change something about it. Try switching your "life routine" a little before you convince yourself of a condition that you have. Try taking up a new hobby or sport.
And if things don't get better in a couple of months, try talking to a school counselor first.

if ur parents truly love you then they should understand, accept and help in any way.. it's really rude and unhelpful if they laugh, u need to tell them that this is serious and you would like them to support in some ways...other than that, try telling relatives that u feel are there for u and they care about u in every way.. i hope that u get better soon and try to find ways to have fun, you're too young! get out there and enjoy what God has blessed you with, dont worry everything will come u just have to be patient and work hard but have fun at the same time and surround urself with good positive ppl that lift ur spirit... good luck , cheer up, life's too short to be unhappy!

If it was me I would talk to the parent that i get along with better than the other. I would tell the parent that there is something serious that you want to talk about and maybe print out the page before hand and show them the page. ANd tell them that you answered yes to most of those questions. Tell them that you don't want to feel the way you do and you want to get help.

You should talk to your parents. In fact, you need their attention and encouragement. The bonding between parents and kids at young age is very important to both parties to build a healthy and strong family relationship for now and future. Speak up between family members is always the best communication way to get help and understanding. Have a great life!

If you don't think your parents would understand, try telling a school counselor or a church minister. The most important thing is that you tell someone. That is the first step.
Hang in there, someone will take you seriously and get you help.

what makes you so sure your parents will laugh at you? Your parents are probably concerned too, because they have probably noticed some changes in you. If you absolutely cannot talk to your folks, talk to a trusted teacher or your school counselor. Please get some help, and know it's not your fault. Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. (hugs)

I am sorry you feel that way. I would just be upfront and honest and tell them how you're feeling, and what you need from them (I need you to be supportive, I need you to help build my self-esteem, etc.) You might also want to get The Feel Good Handbook by David Burns. That is an incredible book.
And start and end your day by saying 10 good things about yourself. :)
And just remember, life is meant to be challenging. Just be strong and think positive.
