Okay, Well I found this really cute puppy (which is a maltese) and it was homeless and $0.00 dollars (i even checked in with the shelter people on e-mail) and i thought it was really cute and i felt bad for it. My mom said she really wanted a puppy, but my dad had another thought. He is allergic to puppys but malteses have hair not fur, so he wont be allergic to it. I told him that and he never said anything. He sometimes gets mad and sais 'Oh im the bad guy and your mom is so nice' but he sais it in a sarcastic way. He sometimes is really nice, and other times he is just normal. I want to tell him about this puppy, is it worth it?

Puppies take a lot of time and training. I know that feeling of wanting to have a puppy--I would love a puppy, but I also realize that I don't have time for a puppy and therefore wouldn't get one because it wouldn't be fair for the puppy. Your dad doesn't want to be looked at as the "bad guy" for saying "no", so he really isn't trying to be mean, he's just being practical. His first reason is what you said--he's allergic. Talk it over with him and see if that's his only concern. It's probably not--he's probably worried about the time it takes to train a puppy and to care for it. If you're serious about wanting a puppy, realize that you'll have to clean up after it if it has accidents in the house (even if they're house trained, it can happen!) Remember that you'll also have to walk it every day--rain or shine--and pick up its messes in the yard or on walks. Also, realize that you'll have to keep the house tidy and provide plenty of chew toys, otherwise you might have some of the things you like destroyed! Are you willing to do all of this, and not just for a week or so but several years? If so, then you may be ready for a puppy, and then it would be worth talking to your dad and let him know what you're willing to do. Bishon Fris and Poodles are also hypo-allergic type of dogs, by the way.

Hi,
I am also allergic to dog and cat dander not the hair. Most people are allergic to the dander of the dog. If you love the pup yo tell him so and you have to take care of it and all the responsibility of it.You tell him that too.But you have to do it and take the responsibility!
This is asmall dog so it wouldn't be too much trouble and their hair is different than other dogs. When he says that you just say yep! As long as you are old enough to accept the responsibility to care for it go for it. Remember that is your friend for keeps not to give up because you cant take care of it anymore.
