What about shades of purple? There is a broad range of colors in this palette, ranging from pale lavender to deep purple. Values of purple could be clear and bright to a more subdued shade of plum. Silver or cyrstal accessories look nice with purples for a sophisticated look, or you could go with creams or ivory for more of a cottage-y look.
I would stick with a neutral color for carpet. You may want to change your decorating style and color scheme again, which is fine, but you don't want to be stuck with carpet in a color that will limit your choices. Unless, of course, you have gone with an inexpensive room-sized remnant, rather than wall-to-wall.
Hope you get the shy but sexy look you're aiming for.

Blue is a calming, relaxing color and is good for bedrooms. Combined with green, blue exudes a natural atmosphere in a room. Green represents life and birth. Like blue, green is a relaxing color. The color symbolizes a certain harmony both in the world and in life. Red is an appetite and conversation stimulant. Red is a fiery color that at times represents both hatred and passion. Red also represents power. Yellow is also a powerful color. Since yellow is the color of sunshine, it has a happy, uplifting aura. Pink is a soft color often used for girls color, it is also known to cause physical weakness in people. Orange is a mixture of red and yellow, so it has all the warmth and comfort of those colors. Some oranges - such as the color of pumpkins and fall leaves - is a stimulant. Purple has always been a special color, representing royalty and spirituality. Purple is known for stimulating creativity in small doses, but large amounts of purple can cause depression and moodiness.

I thought about just randomly throwing color ideas, but I don't think this will be too helpful. You know where to find paint swatches.
The wall color you choose will act as a foundation for the rest of the room. From the wall color, you will build your room's atmosphere through other elements, carpet, curtains, accents, furniture, floor plan, etc.
What kind of lighting does the room have? this is an important aspect to consider. how a paint swatch appears under fluorescent lighting in a store is different from how it appears under natural light, which is different from how it will appear on the walls of your room.
Envision of the type of environment you want to create, and use the wall color as your backdrop for the rest of the room. For example, I live in a very cold climate, so I chose a warm pink/orange color which to me strikes a warm balance between energy and calm. It reminds me of the sunset on a hot summer night. Bamboo blinds, pine furniture and art round off the atmosphere I aimed to create, which I informally consider a Tahitian beach hut. (Yeah, corny, but having this vision really helped me to make my color selection.)
Take a look at a color wheel if this helps. Do you tend to prefer warm or cool colors? Rich or Mellow? Bright or Pastel? Once you think about what you want, and look at your options, you will arrive with an awesome ambience in your new room.
have fun!

I painted mine a cool olive green & have black furniture & mostly black accessories, with a little white. Not dark, but a little formal. I like the look, very relaxing. Add silk sheets, an oversize comforter & lots of pillows & it could be sexy. A canopy bed would do it too. Try lowe's.com & use the virtual painter to try out hundreds of colors in the sample rooms. You can try lots of combinations til you find what suits your style best.

attempt traveling the library or bookstores(my prominent) to learn the residing house adorning books and magazines to get ideals. Or attempt examining the main important hues on your wanted or present fixtures and adorning accents inclusive of lamps, pictures, vases, bookshelves, and mattress covers. with a bit of luck you will hit upon a colour which will flow with all those products. If nonetheless caught, flow to Sherwin Williams, residing house Depot or Lowes or any paint seller that has different paint pattern taking part in cards, and take all of the paint pattern taking part in cards that seize your fancy. Take turns taping them on your wall and spot the way you like those colorings in the process the day and night. as quickly as you narrowed down the concepts, flow decrease back and spot in case you will get those pattern paints in the two or 3 ounces.jars and paint a pattern board (white poster board or white cardboard field from food market) to work out a much bigger pattern which will assist you're making an exceedingly final determination. wish this helps....

Colors to Use Purple/Silver/Black
Furniture: suede or leather for funiture
Lighting is key to a romantic/sexy room - use accent lighting if possible
fabrics: I would use silk/satin for curtains, throw pillows, and throw blankets or anything like that.
Color Scheme details: Silver Carpet, furniture choices i would consider would be deep gray/ with an accent chair deep royal purple. You could do black or white depends on your preference. For an accent chair you want to "pop out" and be daring get a basic simple red chair in the corner off to itself of the room. Red accents dark purples when use in the right way, (not to much).
IF you want to keep the room from feeling dark 60percent of color scheme in grays - they can vary different shades.
30 percent of color scheme in purple - rugs- curtains - pillows
10 percent of color scheme in black for your "pop" color - pillows - a table - or rug
Walls- For sexy instead of multiple small pictures go for one or two very large simple pictures with the same color scheme. I would recommend something like a single flower or anything that is sleek, warm, and simple - nothing thats "busy"
Hope this style is something you had in mind. I know it is very hard decorating and can be very challenging. To me, as long as you feel like the room decribes you and is things that fit your personaility thats is all that counts and it will be perfect! Hope you the best and good LUCK!

Red is the first primary color of the spectrum. It emotionally triggers the sense of power, impulsively, sexuality and increases one's appetite. Be careful how you use red. It can also shout anger, forcefulness, impatience, intimidation, conquest, violence and revenge.
Yellow is one of the three primary colors. Visually it is the most difficult for your eyes to focus on. It is actually brighter than white and stronger in its emotional impact. It also has a stimulating impact on your memory. (Remember the popularity of the yellow notepads and pale yellow Post-It Notes?) It triggers the following emotions: intelligence, joy, and organization. Its opposite effects when used in the wrong manner or with the wrong combination of other colors can create feelings of criticism, laziness, or cynicism. Splashes of pale yellow is the best choice since many tones/shades of yellow are difficult for the human eye to focus on for very long.
Blue is a primary color. It is the easiest color for the eyes to focus. It generates feelings of tranquility, love, acceptance, patience, understanding and cooperation. Its negative qualities if used inappropriately are fear, coldness, passivity and depression. Blue is a favorite color choice among all age groups. Using Blue: A deep royal blue or azure conveys richness and perhaps even a touch of superiority. Navy blue is almost black and is a bit warmer than lighter blues. Combine a light and dark blue to convey trust and truthfulness — banker's colors. Although blue is a year-round color, pastel blues, especially along with pinks and pale yellows suggest Springtime while deep blue is a colder weather color. Create a conservative but sophisticated look with subtle contrast by combining light and dark shades of blue.
Orange is a secondary color comprised of the primary colors, yellow and red. It emotionally triggers steadfastness, courage, confidence, friendliness, and cheerfulness. Its opposite effects are ignorance, inferiority, sluggishness and superiority. Orange is generally considered a social color but used in the wrong manner and with the wrong color combinations could create the opposite effects listed.
Green is the combination of two primary colors, yellow and blue. It includes all the qualities of yellow and blue and the emotions it triggers depends on which of the two primary colors is dominate. Green triggers the following positive emotions: hope, growth, good health, freshness, soothing, sharing, and responsiveness. Its negative attributes are envy, greed, constriction, guilt, jealousy and disorder. Using Green: With both a warming and cooling effect, the color green denotes balance, harmony, and stability. Use several shades of green for a fresh, Springtime feel. Olive green, also called olive drab, is a not so drab summery green that may have military undertones.
Sure hope this helps you...
