Because the god of the Jehovah Witnesses is not the true God of the Bible.

Here are specific scriptures in both the Tonakh and the New Testament. Quotes are by God, Jesus, disciples and apostles.

A Child is to be born as a man who will be the Mighty God.
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jehovah says that He and the coming Redeemer are eternal.
Isaiah 44:6
"Thus says YHWH, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer [Yeshua], the YHWH of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.'"

Jesus confirmed the above as well as His being the Almighty.
Revelation 1:8
Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Again, Who is the Redeemer? Who is the Savior? YHWH.
Isaiah 49:26
"All flesh shall know That I, YHWH, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."

Before He was born, Jesus identified the trinity.
Isaiah 48:16
"Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; From the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord GOD and His SPIRIT Have sent ME."

Three distinct personalities are seen in Jesus' baptism.
Matthew 3:16
When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

Jews sought to stone Jesus for claiming to be the eternal.
John 8
“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”
Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Jesus says that He and the Father are ONE (heis in Greek which means literally the number 1) Jews seek to stone Him for claiming to be God incarnate.
John 10
"I and My Father are one."
Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.
Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”
The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God."

Jesus does not rebuke Thomas for calling Him God, but rather promises a blessing to those who would believe later.
John 20:28
And Thomas answered and said to Jesus, "My Lord and my God!"
Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Paul confirms that Jesus is God.
Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men... looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

your friend is right. Jesus did say you seen me you seen the Father, he was with Jehovah from the beginning not that he was Jehovah God. who was Jesus praying to? you cannot pray to yourself. Jesus also said the Father is greater than me. and I cannot do anything without the Father in the heaven. when Jesus was on the stake, Jesus said Father forgive them they do not know what they are doing. so how can Jesus and Jehovah be the same. we as Jehovah Witnesses worship the God of the bible. no one has seen Jehovah, not even Moses, but they seen the son. my daughter looks like me, but she is not me. are you saying that my daughter is me?? because we look alike and know what each one is thinking.

Well, now I'm confused. I would have thought that she was correct. How did Jesus pray to God if he was God? And I thought that at the last supper Jesus was upset and talked to God who told him that it was OK as he was dying for our sins. Of course I could be completely wrong on all of this as I only know what I have been told about religion. I guess that's the point really. If your friend is told something different to you then she will believe something different. You will never know who is right unless one of you meets God and has conclusive proof that the meeting took place.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians; they teach that Christ was and is divine and of the same nature as God.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Scriptures quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.

(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation

(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth

(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak

(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Thanks again for an opportunity to share what the bible actually says about the distinct persons of Jesus Christ the Son and Jehovah God the Father!

Jesus is the son of God (one of many I might add).
This is so well documented, is there really any question?
However if you want to remain friends I would never discuss religion with a Jehovah Witness.
(I've yet to meet a J W who admits to being wrong about anything!)

What is your question? Her argument is right...Jesus is the Son of God. If Jesus wasn't God's Son, the Bible would not call him that over and over. They are two different individuals.

1 Corinthians 15:24-28: "Next, the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power. 25 For he must rule as king until [God] has put all enemies under his feet. 26 As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing. 27 For [God] “subjected all things under his feet.” But when he says that ‘all things have been subjected,’ it is evident that it is with the exception of the one who subjected all things to him. 28 But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him, that God may be all things to everyone."

The reasons that JW's do not believe in the trinity is because the trinity was introduced to the Christian Faith at around 300 years after Christ death.

I would not worry to much, she is only trying to help you in your faith.

It is good to hear what others believe, but only you can discipher what is true through studying God Word and praying for God's Guidance.

I hope this helps you.

There is no point arguing with your JW friend. They have been taught distorted truth about Jesus and God the Father from their version of the Bible - The New World translation by the Watch Tower Publication. Just pray for her and let the Holy Spirit open her eyes and heart to see and to know the truth. Jesus said, "And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free".

They do err, not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God. That is one of the problems of attempting to reduce God to the fully-knowable.

He was crucified precisely because He claimed to be God.

Verses in Revelation refer to both Jehovah God and Jesus as being the Alpha and the 0mega, even in the Jehovah's Witness translation!!
