In Sex and the Paranormal the author touched on this briefly. Apparently it can be brought on by many things, including extreme fatigue. After fighting sleep for so long to just make it to your home so you can sleep, wouldn't it make sense you'd end up "between realms" in your brain occasionally, so to speak?

It's happened to me, and jolted me wide awake when I felt as if I was floating off the bed. Thank the Gods I knew what it was.

my son experiences sleep paralysis and it is scary- It can be caused by fatigue, especially if a person has a hard time sleeping - which my son does at night. I am glad though that he has found out that it is not dangerous- however scary it may be. I just heard that it can be a low level of melatonin that can cause it as well,

They can be. Often sleep paralysis and night terrors have more psychological than physiological causes, but fatigue can bring on a whole range of unusual ailments as it causes serious (but temporary) mental instability and stress.

I don't know about paralysis but night terrors can be brought on by lack of sleep, stress, severe anxiety. I have them sometimes.

i think so. my father snores the loudest when he's tired.. and it sounds awful. it has got to do with breathing... maybe you dont get as much oxygen to your brain when you sleep tired.

i really dont know

This is more of a medical question. I'll take a guess and say 'sure, it could happen'.
