As to what I think of his art, he certainly is an accomplished craftsman of figurative art and landscapes. I think some of it is stylishly original and some of it very derivative. On the whole, he can be called a master in his craft and style.

Katrina is an on-going catastrophe and national embarrassment that does not come through for me in the unquestionably mastered works. Unless there are landmarks I have overlooked, I cannot know, except by title, that the art depicts the storm or the stricken Gulf Coast and New Orleans. Suppose the figures were painted to reflect the characteristics on the inhabitants: jazz, shrimpers, Cajun...etc.That would be powerful and complete my requirements for a telling story.
