My Pastor has been talking recently about 'creating glory'. He says that we (humans) can not only GIVE glory (to God), but we can actually CREATE glory. Durig the service, he had the congregation divide into two groups, facing each other. "Extend your hands toward the center as we worship" he said. "This is the 'Glory Zone". If you want a touch from God, come into the "Glory Zone". Then he (the Pastor) walked into the area he refered to as the glory zone, almost as if he (the Pastor) were the one receiving the glory (NOT God). Other members of the congregation came into the glory zone with him, and he prayed for them, and they got 'slain in the Spirit' (fell over) It all kinda felt like witchcraft to me. I've never heard of MAN creating Glory, only God. I've only read in the Bible about GIVING Glory to God, not "creating" it. Can we actually 'create glory'? Has anybody else heard of this practice in the Bible or the Christian Church? Thank you and God Bless !

It kind of depends on what he means by "glory". If it's "honor", that's something someone has to deserve, very fitting for God, but to be earned by us. If it's "worship", why not just call it that? If it's "bliss", I doubt it would be us creating it. If it's "unconditional positive regard", I think "love" would be a better term.
Your pastor seems to be regarding "glory" as a commodity to be owned or traded, rather than a quality to show or not show. Some people have confused grace that way. Perhaps that's what he means, although if it is, he's in trouble theologically.
It sounds like he was being creative but not very thoughtful.
Maybe if someone were to ask him what his intentions for this exercise were, he'd be able to come up with a better word for it.

I've never heard of this either. I would be a little careful with this preaching.
Only God has glory which is a divine quality. When we give "glory" to God we reflect the Glory (righteousness) of Jesus. We are unrighteous without Jesus.
Now we can obtain glory unto ourselves in the form of getting awards, becoming famous, being outstanding in the community. This type of glory is giving to you by the worldly people who admire or idolize you.
God said He will not share His Glory with anyone.

Glory is to be given only to God. I think your pastor needs to read his Bible again...

I agree with you. We give glory to God not create it because that would be like trying to be God ourselves.
Peace and every blessing!

Glory is an earned state of, well founded, recognition for great deeds. One (God or man) doesn't deserve unearned "Glory" merely by existing.
The behavior of Jehovah/Yahweh (if he still exists) deserves zero "Glory" for the evil acts he/it has committed.

I would check out his faith statements and find out what he believes.
If you passes the tests (try the spirits and make sure their of GOD), then he probably has alittle of his theology mixed up.
We all make mistakes, but you cannot make any concerning getting born-again, or you won't make Heaven your home.
After your spirit is recreated (saved) the Holy Spirit lives in you.
You can still make alot of mistakes on other things like healing, speaking in tongues etc., but if you keep seeking, the Holy Spirit will eventually get the errors out.
Hope this helps.

Years ago, the concept may have seemed almost impossible to fathom, but yes, we can create the Glory as believers in Christ who long for intimacy with God. Holy Spirit can teach you how to and you can bask in His Presence for as long as you want.

Glory IS the manifestation of God, if you believe in that.

New to me. I really don't see the point of it. Sounds like he's just trying to come up with something different, but his imagination isn't up to the task.
