No. Any weight comes from the sole and the leather/fabrics of the boot. The protective shield is negligble. There is sometimes (at least for me) a difference in comfort, as the edge of the steel toe can rub on some types of boots. But in weight, no. There are also aluminum and hard plastic toed boots that offer less crush protection. Depends on what you need them for.

I have worn them for years and havent noticed a considerable difference. It really depends on the style (sole thickness, insulation, material) the piece of steel they add really doesnt weigh much at all.
