I am buying a new home. I am concerned that all the moisture from the bathroom will cause mold or mildew in my closet because the closet doors are in bathroom. I ask the saleman if i could have it changed so i have one door from my bedroom entering my closet and he said " no it couldn't be done" ( i don't think he really checked) I am going to call the company myself to make sure. Does anyone have a floorplan like this, or do you think this will be a mold issue? Thanks for all replys.

I just recently purchased a kb home with a closet on the otherside of our masterbath. I dont think there is any possiblilty you would have a mold issue. I have yet to see any moisture come close to the master closet hope this helps.

My floorplan is like that now here in Texas and my last home in California had it that way and I was there for 10 years. We never had a problem with mold. Will there be a window in the bathroom that you can open up? Mold comes when a lot amount of moisture is allowed to set in a dark damp place. There is no reason why any moisture should be getting in the closet as long as you have decent ventilation and/or fans. It is so practical to have the closet in the bathroom for privacy. From a resale standpoint, most people would prefer it that way too.

I work in the luxury home market and there are many homes that have the master closet in the master bath, although personally I do not like that, there have been no issue of any type of moisture problems in any of the homes. The bathroom is usually vented so wll it removes any moisture also if the home has an air exchanger ( up here it is code to have one) that will also prevent any moisture issues.

I have lived in my home for 16 years and the master closet entry door is inside the master bath. No moisture problems here at all. (Closet is located in a corner between the shower stall and dual sinks).

Probably won't be a problem if your bathroom has an exhaust fan in it but .... I don't like that floor plan either .....

It seems they should have been able have the closet in between the bedroom and bath ...... even if off of a short hall way.......

if the closet shares a wall with the bedroom, then it can be done. If the builder told you it cant, then he was lying. That's just a fact. Sounds like you have a builder that does not have your best interests in mind, you should consider someone else.
