All my friends have brand new houses. I bought a house that was preowned. Well, our kitchen and bathrooms are having all white tiles whereas all the friends have trendy new colors in their kitchen and bathrooms and they did it as per their color choice The paint in the bathroom is the usual beige. Everyone comments that my bathroom looks very sterile and they fear using it because it is white and worry where they will dirty it. Some comment that white looks and feels like a hospital. I am feeling very low and insecure about this aspect. Please do give me your opinion..... Thank you .

The "pink bathroom makeover" by BAAL is very funny yet very innovative... I enjoyed the way you expressed it... hats off to you! Really, thinking on those lines, white is a pretty easy color to deal with..All of you have eased me so very much and I am able to think little better now instead of sitting and indulging in selfpity!!

Paint the walls and put rugs or carpeting on the floor. I prefer rugs because you can change them.
BTW, I think white tile floors are nice. They don't clash with anything, and they won't end up looking dated. Does anymore remember the harvest gold color that was in every kitchen back in the day? Or shag carpeting? With white you will never ever have that problem.

There is a primer called XIM that will stick to anything and a good gloss paint will stick easily to that but don't do it. I moved into a house built in 1914 but lucky me the bathroom tile was put in during the infamous 1950s "pink tile era". I found a wonderful wallpaper with about a zillion colors in it one of which was the exact shade of pink i the tile, so I knew the colors would all blend with the tile. I papered the walls and ceiling, put in a cut it yourself bathroom rug from Penney's and use three different colors of towels - none of which are pink. Absolutely no-one has ever mentioned my "pink" bathroom but they have mentioned my "fun" bathroom. I'll take fun over pink any-day and I still have the durability of fired ceramic tile.
Good luck on whatever you decide to try.

Just Ignore them They are Capitalist Snobs with there fancy Houses. There is a Paint on the Market for Painting Tiles I dont know what it is called but seen it Advertised you could try that . Otherwise Retile youre House. It is Easy to Hack off the Old Tiles with a Special 4 inch wide Chisel and then put New Tiles on ,or get a Tradesman to do it. A nice Pale Blue or Pink for the Bathroom, Nice Red Tiles for Kitchen,Best of Luck with the Redecorating.

You can now buy a special paint for tiles. Check with a good paint store and inquire. Consider painting the trim or border tiles onlly in a different color. That could help set off the bathroom and make it look more modern.

Enjoy the white tiles. You can change the color scheme anytime you want to. Your friends will always have a color even if they get tired of it. White will always go with any color you choose. So, be thankful that you have white. It always looks clean and fresh. So change the color scheme any time and it will be like getting a new bathroom. Good Luck..

Seeing as blue and yellow is about my favourite colour combination, I think yellow would be a fine choice. Also, yellow is cheerful and makes rooms seem bigger and brighter, always something good in a bathroom. Get some light blue paint chips to compare to your fixtures, so that when you choose your paint colour you can get a good match. Get a yellow that's slightly on the warm side; since blue and white are cool, the warm yellow will warm the room a bit, and also I'd choose a yellow lighter in intensity than the blue. If you like aqua, that would look good for towels and such.

I would think white would make it easy to decorate. Maybe add color, by your shower curtain, paint on the walls, curtains, and or accessories. Change out your hardware on you kithcen cabinets and bathroom All much cheaper than tearing out tile and having new installed. Have fun with it. Go online and search decorating ideas for bathrooms and kitchens!!

Beige paint? Can you redo that? Maybe soft pink or something. Then add some accents. A rug set. Some bight colored towels.
White tile is great, tho. Wish I could get my carpeting replaced. Would put in white tile in a hot minute! Never seems dated.

I actually prefer white tiles, and your friends' bathrooms are going to date long before yours do. If all your accessories are in colours, then it will not cost much and you will have the choice to change much more often than they do.
When they say yours looks sterile, they are just trying to tell themselves to feel okay about their ones. It is okay for a bathroom to look clean.
