A month ago I tried to catch a stray cat who has been living outside a downtown hotel. I had her in the trap once, but she excaped. I've slowly been rebuilding her trust by feeding her every day. However, since the snow has melted, the courtyard where she has been staying, has since been opened to guests, A lot of teenagers were staying there for the basketball championships in town and I wonder if the cat decided to leave the hotel and find a new home. None of the hotel workers have seen her for the past week. the food I've been leaving out goes uneaten. Is it possible that she has gone into heat and has wandered off? Or is more likely that she is dead? I'm pretty sure that no one would be able to catch her and harm her, and I'm also pretty sure that the hotel management would not poison her. They knew I was trying to catch her and were very supportive. Any ideas where she might have gone?

Anyone of your ideas could have happened, she could have moved on to a quieter spot, or she could have met with an unfortunate fate. I try to rescue strays and wilds all the time, sometimes it just doesn't work out. Good luck and thank you for trying. I know she appreciated your caring.

I'm pretty sure that the cat is not dead - she just moved on when her courtyard was opened for human activity. Cats hate rumbuctions noise - especially the kind produced by little kids; teenagers at play and machinery. Also, it is spring - the usual time cats go roaming to find suitable mates.
Bless your heart for caring for this stray.
She may come back now and again (in the dead of night) just to check if there is any food.

I agree with Victoria S' answer, it could be any of these things... there's just no way to tell unless she returns, with or without kittens, or you recover her some other way, dead or alive. If she wasn't spayed then chances are she's gone into heat with spring coming... but strays can very well just move when one place gets too noisy to their liking, even if she does get fed. Keep putting food out for a while; she might come back when the teenagers are gone, when she's had her fun with her tomcat, or when the kittens are old enough to follow her around...

you never know what could happen to stray cats. It could be just their thing to eat whenever is possible, and this cat so happens to find you feeding it, so it'll eat your food until it finds a better place to stay. Once its a stray cat, i likely to stay that way. Cats are independent and like to move on to newer and different places. Only God knows where this cat went but i'm sure it found a good place to stay. Cats are very wise and can found the most unusual places to rest. You never know, it could be near you still.

i have out door pets they come and go but they have always come back home. I'm sure she is okay after all it is that time of the year. Wild cats are that wild it is very unusual for one to be tamed because I have a wild cat it always me to feed him but that is all. Just keep trying, don't give up on her!!! Good-luck

Cats appearing to be strays may actually have homes somewhere, maybe miles away but cats are known to have many homes in a suburban evironment

Someone else might've set out a trap. Many places have local feral cat spay/neuter volunteers. If the cat shows potential, they consider adopting it out.
