It's not a root because it grows above ground. It's not a flower either, it's a plant. It's a member of the same family as cauliflower which both cause gas (just like cabbage). Broccoli is a super food which means it's one of the best for you (lots of cancer fighting agents) and broccoli sprouts are even better for you.

Cauliflower is a variety (Botrytis Group) of Brassica oleracea in the family Brassicaceae (the same species as broccoli, which it strongly resembles). It is an annual plant that reproduces by seeds. Typically, only the head (the white curd) is eaten while the stalk and surrounding thick, green leaves are discarded. Cauliflower is extremely nutritious, and may be eaten cooked, raw or pickled.

It is a stalk and more a flower than a root. Is not a root. In fact the top part are called florettes (tiny flowers).

It's may or may not be a flower but it's definiatly not a root if it grows above ground. Roots are like geinseng (sp), carrots , potatoes and the like others like cabage or spinach are leaves.

Broccoli is in fact a flower.
Look at Cauliflour. It is similar in apperance, and even the name has "flower" in it.

It depends on if you put cheese on it. If you put cheese on it, then it's a root. If you don't, it's a flower.
