Videos and Audio files are compressed in different formats, these formats are known as Codecs...

DivX is a type of codec, It is a free codec and offers good quality video at a high compression rate... It is common for movies downloaded from the internet to be compressed by DivX... Installing the codec allows you to decompress the movies and view it.

Hope this answer helps

You downloaded something that you didn't know what it was?
Not a good idea.

Anyhow...

DivX is an alternative video codec. It offers good quality at a higher compression than other codecs. The movies usually have the extension ".avi".

the divx bundle is a good thing to have i believe!!!!
it is simply a video enhancer for the existing video players that are on your system like windows media player 10
it also has a burner that is very simple to use
it is for burning "VIDEO DATA DISCS" not dvds
video files take up a lot of space
if you have a small hard drive this is the answer for saving those video files
burn them to "DATA DISCS" then you can later put them back on your computer to make dvds with another dvd making software if you wish
the divx burner will only burn video files
not data, and not music
you can even use cd discs for storing your video files
as long as they fit (less than 700mb)
i love the divx burner
so simple!!!! it even knows automatically which type of disc you are using (no settings to change)
except the drive you are using // and to name your disc if you wish
