Here's two clues, smell the bottom where the pineapple was cut from the plant, if it smells like sweet pineapple it's ripe, clue #2 if you tug on the leaves and they're loose it's over ripe and good for the trash in two days

When I buy a pineapple I always check for ripeness by tugging on the top to see if the leaves pull out easily , it has never failed for me , hope this helps

Ripe pineapples are very fragrant and the leaves on top can be easily removed.
