Does anyone know where I can find an affordable wedding gown in the Durham or York Region (in Ontario, CANADA)? I need upper plus sizing (26+). Thanks!

I just was looking for dresses, most stores care plus sizes, but it will cost extra. I believe most dresses over 16 is an extra cost.

I looked on Spadina, they have a lot of shops there. Between
Adelaide and Dundas.

I know this is a little further out of your way. But there is a bridal & beyond at Dundas & 427. Try giving them a call and asking, or maybe they can lead you in the right direction.

Hope this helps. Have fun wedding your dress!

Hi! Not from Ont. but Sask. I got mine at Brides 'N Belles, but don't know if they are a chain. Because you are nearer a bigger city than I am, see if Pennington's carried wedding gowns, or can order them. Call shops ahead of time to see if they have plus sizes. Don't go strictly by the sizes, because the numbers vary. Like start trying on at size 22. Remember, alterations can be done, and gowns CAN be made larger.
I was thinking all sorts of "bad" thoughts when I started out looking - thought I might have to get just a simple white dress made, or something. The first store I went to was the one I mentioned, and just started looking at those little clips that tell the sizes on the racks, and lo and behold, there was a "24" with more than one gown! Honestly, I was shocked, and never thought I would be able to find a traditional wedding gown - and utterly beautiful. It was of heavy bridal satin, long sleeves, scoop neck, and a basque (vee) waistline, leading down to a full skirt and beautiful train at the back. What saved covering the tummy was that waistline! The gown was covered in crystals, sequins, pearls and lace appliques, and I wore a tiara of crystals and pearls, with a fingertip veil. Unbelievable! I felt truly beautiful!
Girl, I hope you have similar luck to me. I paid about a thousand for the gown and headpiece, and that included alterations, but it was years ago. The 24 was a tight fit, and the store seamstress inserted a panel on each side under the arms - and you could not even TELL that there were alterations done. She did magic!
Good luck, and happy wedding!

I am not familiar with your area, but you should find a bridal shop that carries, Private Label by G -- they have an entirely beautiful plus size (especially over 26+) line for us big girls, called Signature Plus. I bought my wedding gown from that line, and the dress was spectacular.

Not entirely sure but if given enough time I can check for you, I have a friend that lives in the Toronto area and might know of dress shops that carry upper plus size dresses. I can take a look for you if you'd like
