My mothers cat died very suddenly at the end of Feburary. We had no clue why. Some of her symptoms was she wouldn't eat, she lost a lot of weight, she had very very bad diarrhea the last couple of days of her life. My mom though it was IBD, but we looked and she ate some Best choice brand canned food then. We don't have the can, we didn't think anything of it until we did our research. What should we do?

Did a veterinarian see your cat? If there's some record of your cat being treated, that might help. Also here is the menufoods website.

I am so sorry that your mom lost her kitty to this terrible petfood recall. So many loving pet guardians did not realize that they were feeding their beloved pet rat poison! It makes me so angry. I hope that Menufoods is made to pay BIG TIME so that the petfood industry will become heaps more careful from now on regarding the quality of the their petfood.

Did you take your cat to the vet and was she diagnosed with renal failure? There really isn't much you can do since you don't have the cans to compare lot numbers. I am truly sorry for your loss and you have my most sincere condolences. I love my cats like my children, and I know you must both be heartbroken. Remember the good times and be proud you gave her the best life she could have.

If you don't have the can, thereis not much you can do. If you remember the experation date of the food, look on line to see if anyother cat has died of been sicken by this food. If you still have the recept, you might have enough proof to sue. Don't get your hopes up though. It'll be hard.

there is a class action going on with that but without the can you r out of luck, if you have any full ones around still that the numbers match with the ones recalled you can still be a part of that suit then call your news in the state you live in and they will give you a # to call for the class action law suit.

My guess is that without the food container, the animal's remains, or a report from a post-mortem examination by a veterinary pathologist, it's unlikely that you'll get any sort of compensation from the manufacturer, or anyone else for that matter.
