Tongue piercings are for one purpose only......giving better BJs. If you have made it clear that you don't WANT that type of added sensation, then she's clearly getting it to use on someone ELSE. If I were you, I'd leave her NOW, before you catch her cheating.

Well, it just seems like you two are in different stages of your life. You're getting out in the real world and ready to make something of yourself. She's still in the high school scene where partying and being a teen is the cool thing to do. Even if she's not a "party girl" she's still a teenager and is going to do some crazy things, like getting her tongue pierced. Because of this age difference, that is a good reason to break up, at least until she's matured and out in the "real world."
Also, she just might not be the type of person that you're really attracted to. You sound like a put together person, and it sounds like she's a little more crazy when it comes to style and such. Differences like these could get in the way.
But you are right when you say that getting a tongue ring is HER decision. It is her body, and she has the right to do what she wants with it. You could however say that because of the factors listed above, you don't think that you two should be together anymore. Good luck with this!

She's not to the point in her life that she is considering how it will influence her job prosepects in the future. Then again tongue rings are not permanent, and she can always take it out in the future.
When my husband and I were dating he told me that I couldn't get a tattoo, which made me want it that much more. To forbid her to do something to her body is not right.
Quite personally, as a medical professional I can think of 3 patients that have almost died from an infected tongue ring. I don't think a fashion statement is worth dying for.

I know how you feel. Let her know if it really bothers you that much and why (though yopu said you did already) if you really like her or even love her let her get through the phase. chances are she will either forget about it, or get it, and then end up taking it out eventually. maybe just ask her not to have it in around you or make some sort of deal with her. Is there something that she doesnt like you doing? tell her that if she does this then you should be able to ____. And remember that what a person has on them or kind of in them...doesnt define who they really are. good luck

It's your choice to dump her but it's also her choice to get one. If you have let her know how you honestly feel about it and she still insists on getting one even though she knows that you will dump her, then maybe she is looking for a reason to get dumped. She should respect your wishes on this one if she really wants to be with you. My opinion. You only have 6 months invested in this relationship so maybe it's better just to exit now.

I think if she gets a toungue piercing you should dump her. There's a big maturity difference between you two which is not necessarily either of your guys faults. She is still in highschool, while you are getting ready to enter the real world. This is a crucial point in your life and those you associate with reflect upon you and if you stay with her, you might run into bigger problems which in the long run could affect your career

sounds like your girl is childish but then again she's still in high school and is 18 OK people do mature at that age but not all. are you sure this is what you want sounds to me you'll be fathering her instead. Your a young man who has a good head on his shoulders don't settle yet do what you got to do with your career you could regret it later on. It's only been 6mon. there's more to that and more to come. There's all ready disagreement's going on imagine down the line ? not good if you ask me. let her get the dumb earring like a baby and move on act like you don't care she could be playing kid games to see how far your jealousy can go. If it's all fun and game for her then your wasting your time with a kid.

Sorry, but I can't agree with you. I don't particularly like tongue piercings, but I do think that if she wants to, you have no right to threaten to dump her. From your question's tone, I'd say that you have already decided that she won't fit in with the people that you are trying to impress. Therefore, it is not a big leap to the conclusion, that you are looking for a reason to dump her.

look up websites and show her pictures of tongue piercings gone bad.
Remind her it wont look good, when she is trying to get a REAL job.
Finally, tell her you find it unattractive, and that it will be a real turn off for you, and that you will not stand for that.
She is only 18 and she is still acting like a kid, and has no idea how it will affect her.
Tell her if she wants to end up looking like an being a loser, than its her choice.. You will find someone else with more class who intends to go somewhere in their life and who will go out of their way to make good decisions for themselves.

Well the people you are trying to impress won't have to see her, and you shouldn't break up with her. Her having a tongue piercing will be fun for you too when you are kissing her.
