What makes you think that an atheist is not an honest person?If you are a Christian you don't want to hurt your life example by being stupid and steal.Not only do you sin against God but you break the law and spend time in jail.

Since the ratio of Christians to Atheists is much higher among Prison imates than the general population we can conclude either Christians tend to commit more crimes or else they tend to get caught more.

Belief or lack thereof isn't going to change a person or a society: Prohibitions against theft arise from laws created from universal morals. Immoral people exist in all religions and none. Laws against theft exist in states of all religions and none.

no. it has noting to do with religious belief.
but as for there being more Christians in prison, that is because several years ago, prisoner were give early release if they became a christian, claiming to be a new creation.
most prisoners a natural con men and will profess anything that might get them better treatment or a early release.

Actually, crime statistics suggest just the opposite. The number of Christians in jail is disproportionately higher than the number of atheists in jail.

depends on your religion. perhaps religion A does not worship and fear God the way religion B does. And say religion C feels they are more chosen and are forgiven for their sins in advance , they may steal more.
