First of all, attempt to moderate the drinking. It is obviously the most effective way to avoid morning after hangovers. But if you do go beyond your limit, drink plenty of water before going to bed. When brain cells are dehydrated (from the alcohol and the many trips to the washroom), they shrink while stretching nerve endings, which causes pounding headaches.

If you forget to drink water before going to bed, it would be wise to do so first thing in the morning. Chances are that the headache will already be present, but the faster you replenish your fluid loss, the faster you will begin recuperating. There shouldn't be any exceptions and it is important to drink up plenty of liquids in a hurry, even if you're nauseous. Effective fluids in the fight against hangovers are:

# Sports drinks such as Gatorade and All-Sport, which replace the essential salts and minerals flushed out during the many visits to the bathroom.
# Any drink mixed with Vitamin B because it helps the body process the alcohol faster, thereby eliminating it from the body at a faster pace.
# Coffee is effective, especially if you have to work the next day. It constricts blood vessels in the brain and counters the cerebral blood pressure that amplifies headaches.
Some may say that drinking another beer will help you get over a hangover, but actually it is not proven to help and let's face it, when you have an upset stomach from drinking, the last thing on your mind is more booze.

Eat good food

Replenishing your body with plenty of liquids is the most important part of relieving a hangover, but your body will also need plenty of nutrients. The most recommended nutrient is honey on toast. It should be eaten before going to bed or after waking up. Simple sugars such as fructose (found in honey) will increase the rate at which your body processes alcohol, and simple carbohydrates (found in toast) will neutralize an overly acidic stomach.

In general, it is important to eat a full but light meal to get your senses back on track. Avoid eating heavy, greasy foods because your upset stomach may not welcome Mr.Grease with open arms, so to speak. Try eating toast, muffins, cereal, or oatmeal instead. As your body progressively recuperates, begin eating more substantial foods.

Use pain killers

For extreme cases, when a headache is too painful, Tylenol or other painkillers are recommended. Take a pill or two with a full glass of water upon waking and let the effects facilitate your day. Be careful not to take the painkillers before drinking because they slow down the ability to process alcohol, which enhances the intensity of the hangover. Painkillers also should be taken right before going to bed in order to decrease chances of the hangover's effects.

These simple tips are the most effective for party animals and bartenders around the world. Therefore, the next time you guzzle one shot too many, remember to drink plenty of liquid, and eat sufficient nutrients.

Next time you go drinking you need to chug a glass of water in between every drink or shot. Bring a bottle in your pocket or purse so you don't bug the bartender. You will wake up hungry and feeling good the next morning!

water.... hangovers only start when the body becomes dehydrated, its a bit like playing football without taking on liquids in summer, when you stop you feel tired and the hangover effect begins...

my advice is to drink plenty of water!

When I have a drink I have water in between my beers, a big glass of it. None of my friends drink water in between drinks, so they always have a hangover in the morning. Eat something before you start to drink, that way you have something in your stomache as well....water won't dehydrate you, as you are drinking, because when you drink you often have to go to the bathroom.

Vitamin C is the best thing for hang overs. You can eat an orange or have a few cups of OJ.

There is no cure but alka seltzer and oj help to rehydrate. Try and get some carbs in when you think you can handle them too.

#1 don't drink different mixes drinks, stick to one drink and that will help.. honest try it, but that means don't drink to the pont of no return. and in the morning, don't drink water, you may have the urge to do so, bu t just don't, try a beer, no kidding, sounds strange. your body is craving the liquor so just try it and see if it helps, oh and make sure you can rest the morning after........ i hope your hangover hits the road...
