Are there an equal amount of male and female Atheists?

NO. The numbers of Atheists in male and female are not equal. It is always on higher side in Male, because, male only have been dominating the society all these years and conveying most of the ideas, which the female used to adopt and obey. The lead is taken so far by male only and now-a-days only female have come up. Even in many countries equal rights for male and female were denied.

Further the female world wide are bound by old traditions and so their percentage is less even now.-

I actually don't know how you'd tell. Perhaps there's a survey somewhere?

But here on Y!A I've made the mistake of assuming that someone is a man or woman and been wrong. There could be anyone behind those avatars. I've discovered that several of the atheist regulars are female. But I've never done a head count.

Oh. My wife and daughter are atheist. If that helps.

I think male atheists are in greater number than female as the women are generally more susceptible to things of spirituality.

I'd have to say it's about 75% male 25% female 80% College students.

Sadly, no. Women seem to be very attracted to religion, and there are far more male atheists than female.

I'm not sure of the statistics. I do know there have been studies that show women are more likely to be religious - i.e. going to church, praying, etc.

I haven't seen anything about belief itself, but only about the practice of it.

Some think this might have to do with the female tendency to be more emotional than males.

me too, i honestly have no idea. If I had to guess, I would say that more women believe in God(s) than men. Anyone got a link to an actual study?

I have a suspicion that men are more likely to be atheists than women, but I don't have solid evidence to back it up.
