hello ppl, right let me explain my problem

my father was made redundant from his last job over a year & a half ago.. after this his health has gotten worse, he had to have carpel tunnel surgery on a hand & a disc in his back is out of shape which causes him alot of pain if hes standing up all day, so now he cannot work.. as far as i know these inurys will be with him forever now i, i dont think theres alot that can be done to make things better..
Hes at home everyday some of the time on his own because me & my mother are working and my sister is at school..
To get to the point he's feeling really low and i dont know how to help him. because he cant work and isnt really active any more he cant see a way to make things better, and bills are really taking there toll on the family as there's only 1 income (bar benefits which doesent make things better)
I hate seeing him the way he is now but i dont know how i can aid him or how he can get things back on track..

any advice please??

Tell your Dad not to have bad days , have bad moments instead.
tell him to do what he can and then he has done his best.
Housecleaning, dishes, whatever small jobs he can accomplish.
At least he will feel he is doing what he can to help.

Also look into internet opportunities as a source of employment.

If your dad is disabled he can get a disability check from the government. Please don't take this as a joke, but has he checked on a job at Walmart as a greeter? He would not have to stand or do anything strenuous and it would be good for his mental health and a little money coming in. I have a retired friend doing this and really enjoys it.

tell him to get into activities...at home....like gardening..writing his personal diary daily...something in which he can get engaged and does not remain depressed. try to spend not just time with him but 'quality time' , which means that you should talk to him daily ...even if you give him a 'few' minutes each day, i m sure there will be a smile on his face throughout the day. try to make your relations with your father even more stronger because if somebody gets ill, he/she needs more support.this is quite natural. i hope things will get better soon.
