Well, where do you think the government gets it's money from??

Medicaid is FULLY FUNDED FROM WORKERS. Yep, if you work, you pay for medicaid for people who don't. There isn't any "minimum salary level", there's not refunds on it, it's just part of your working taxes.

That's what bugs me the most about "income taxes" and "income tax levels" and rates - the actual federal income tax taken out of a paycheck is the SMALL amount - the social security and medicaid and medicare taxes, those are HUGE, and you can't do a blessed thing about it.

This is my great annoyance with most people's attitudes about government programs.

It's like the money just falls out of the sky or something.

We, the people (the taxpayers) pay. Period. We pay and pay and pay. And still, that doesn't seem to be enough to satisfy anyone.

Here's a newsflash about taxes: if you're self-employed, you probably pay about 70% of your income in taxes, between Federal income taxes, self-employment taxes, unemployment taxes, social security taxes, Medicare taxes, and that's not even to speak of the State and local taxes.

Think about trying to live on 30% of YOUR income and you'll see why this kind of question annoys me. The government doesn't pay for ANYTHING. The government gets its money FROM US. And frankly, I'm getting more than a little tired of everyone else finding new ways to spend the money I EARNED. (And in the end, that's the difference -- we EARN it, they TAKE it. Ever notice how easy it is to spend something you didn't have to earn?)

It comes out of your paycheck/taxes.

That's why it pisses me off when I see so many able-bodied people on Medicaid and can't get a job. They act like it's their right to be unemployed and live off the system. It's pathetic! Here you have a person who really needs help, trying to work and pay their bills, and can't get any medical assistance, and over here you have generation after generation of families on welfare and Medicaid. It's unfair the way the system works.

The people who work pay for it. People work, earn money, and pay tax, which tax money goes to help the low-income and homeless. The lazy people who don't work are expecting their welfare money. These lazy people are having fun spending all the hardworking people's money. They know they got free money, well my as well, go to casino or spend it and have fun.
