Because of child labor laws, I doubt that the 10-year old will find a place that will hire him and pay him according to the IRS, but find a good neighbor that needs help with walking or washing puppies/dogs. See if any local shelters allow for volunteers or if his/her school has a program on taking care of animals. I say start off small..like a fish or rabbit, they can get good experience taking care of animals that way. I strongly suggest that the 10-year take its time with working....he/she has plenty of time for that in the future. Good luck.

Well, she could look for local aminal shelters and ask if she could do volunteer work there. I'd also try putting up a sign at a local store, advertising for an available dog sitter (they do the same thing for available baby sitters too.)

I work in a pet shop . I live in Rockland County, N.Y., and we have this program....What this program offers ...10 year old's can help out around our store, and get to learn the responsibilities of owning a puppy (we do sell them) or other animals. It's really a great learning experience for kids!

You can mow lawns and clean up peoples yards. Get a paper route. Walk other peoples dogs. Do extra chores around the house. Make up flyers and show them to your parents to make sure it's ok with them. I'd stick close to your neighborhood at first.

You're too young to have a job why don't you see if you have neighbors that will allow you to walk their dog for a couple bucks. Make sure it's neighbors who have people friendly dogs.

Most people will not hire anyone to work with animals under the age of 16..it's too much of a liability risk incase you get bitten...which happens, trust me I know
