Rimadyl as a long term medication must be monitored very closely by your vet, as it can cause problems for some dogs. 2 litres of fresh water however, does not appear excessive for a big dog like a german shepherd but best to have that verified by the vet.

Rimadly and the like kind of medications process through the kidneys and liver...I would have it checked out at my vet if I thought there was a change. What harm can it do to call the vet? Rimadyl made my dog pee alot.

Have your vet check him over he should have a check up every 6 months when on this type of medication. The only way to tell if his liver /kidneys are working properly is to have a blood test, this can be taken easily by the vet and you get the results in a few days. Drinking a lot of water all of a sudden is not normal and you should always see a vet about it.

Rimadyl can cause fairly sever kidney problems in some dogs when used long term. I would defiantly take him to the vet the next day that they are open to have them do bloodwork to check how is organs are working.

Probably a good idea to have tests done, particularly if you've noticed any changes in urination. Rimadyl can cause problems in some dogs.

My dog drank more water when on it, but you might want to ask your vet because that's a lot more water that he is drinking. Be careful with that medicine because it can cause kidney problems, so make sure they are checking his blood at least once a year.
