What keeps you from killing yourself? What do you live for? What hope? That you become dirt?

I once asked God to take my life. Dad had died, Kid just diagnosed with life long disability that sucked, mother aging and not taking care of herself, I felt like crap. Life was bad, and could only see it getting worse.
I feared hell and my kid needed me but I wanted death to stop the pain I was in.
I prayed while driving. Then I heard a voice, in my head, loud and clear say, "But I have GREAT plans for you!"
I almost wrecked the car!
Things got better!

- How long will I live? Hopefully a long time. I don't know how long.

- Is say, 100 years too short? Of course. But that's the way it is. It's too short, and eternity is by far too long. I'd rather have something in between.

- I don't kill myself because I know that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. In other words, when things are bad, they will get better again.

Exception would be a terminal disease. I would then consider euthanization.

- I live to learn, to love, and to experience all the wonderful things I can in the time I have.

- What are you asking about hope?

- My body will become dirt eventually, yes. Well, actually ashes since I wanna be cremated. It'll be just like before I was born, and I don't remember anything being so bad about that.

Longevity runs in my family, so I'll probably live to be at least in my 80s, maybe longer.

It seems neither short nor long.....I will live exactly as long as I'm meant to live, no more and no less.

I don't kill myself because, with age and experience, I've seen that nothing in my sheltered life is worth that. I can't even imagine a (realistic, likely) situation bad enough to make me kill myself.

What do I live for? Because I'm enjoying my life on the whole. Even the times I haven't enjoyed it, it beats the alternative! I don't know what being dead is like, so I'll stick with what I know.

What hope? If you mean, what kind of afterlife, I have no idea. I hope it's sort of like eternal peace with the people I loved during life....but I have no evidence to know this for sure. I'll find out when the time comes.

I have no idea how long I will live. The oldest person I've ever known was 108. That seems like a short time. I don't expect to last that long myself, and I don't think I'd prefer to. I have no desire to bury my children, and people who live to that age usually do. What I live for is here and now, the love I can give and the compassion I can show to others. What I hope for- and believe- is that one day my family and I will be together in the Kingdom of God, where none of us will age or die.

I don't know how long I will live. Sanity keeps me from killing myself. I live for happiness, good things to come and many other reasons too numerous to mention. If I become dirt, I hope I push up the best roses (or daisies).

1) 90+ (my family has awesome genes)
2) Um... it'll HURT. And my family will miss me.
3) Education, a future family (marriage, kids), a successful career, and overall happy life...
4) Hope? Well, I want to be a Cultural Anthropologist. So whatever updated information I find on humans and their cultures, etc. I'll send to museums and have taught to the next generation.
5) I'll be BURIED in dirt, yes. But what makes life precious is the here and now. That, and what I do will make a mark that will last generations after I'm dead.

I had a dream when i was twelve and it was and older man reading a news paper with the date august 2nd 2136, i now think it might have been me.That'd be about my 150th birthday so ever since I've been holding on to that notion. Things might get worse at times but things always come around...you gotta have hope...

>How long do you think you will live?

Probably at least 100 years or so, given new advances in medical technology. I can always hope to live forever, though. :)

>What keeps you from killing yourself?

The fact that there are still fun things to do in life.
