It's not gas -- she does that a lot too :), but this is different, and she's fixed.

It could be that the anal glands need emptying. This is not a pleasant job .
I suggest you let the vet or dog groomer have a look and watch how they does it and if you are not squeamish you will be able to do it yourself next time.

is she a red bone? That's what my grandmother had and i loved him. I hate to break it to you but most hounds smell horrible and its usually their ears, any floppy eared dog is going to have a smell if their ears are not cleaned often enough. Other than that just from the experience of growing up in Arkansas among many MANY hound dogs they're just more smelly than other dogs - ha ha i know it sounds silly and most people will think its ridiculous but that's just how its always been for me!

It could be that her anal glands need to be expressed, your vet can show you how to do this. Feeding her a high fiber diet can help, most dogs will eat pumpkin, put a couple tablespoons on her food everyday.

coon dogs tend to pass gas alot - maybe you should change pet foods. - also if she is an unfixed dog - it may be a sign that shes in heat.
