Show your parents how responsible you will be with the dog by first showing them how good you keep your room and do your homework. After about two months of you doing this and bringing it to their attention, they'll see that you maybe can handle a dog. Just don't blow it by not watching the dog when you finally get it.

Tell them that all the kids at school have them except for the ones having trouble with drugs. Tell them you really dont want to get involved with things like that but you so need a place to put your emotions and love.

SERIOUSLY!! Do not say that. Sit them down and remind them of all the things you currently do responsibly and give them examples of the times that you have followed through with chores, projects, etc. If you get good grades in school, add that as well. Show them that you are responsible and do not take the care of an animal (and it is a big responsiblilty!) lightly.

If they see that you are serious and you have shown them you are responsible, I am sure they will reconsider. Keep in mind yourself that a dog in an apartment is a HUGE undertaking. You will be needing to take it outside all the time for bathroom breaks, walks & exercise. You will also need to keep it company and make sure it doesnt chew the whole house up and they live a long time! What happens if you go away to college or something.

If you're ready for all that, then I say go have the talk.

You need to prove how responsible you are. You are only 11 and I doubt very much that you will be willing to get up every 2 hours, breaking your sleep, to take a puppy OUTSIDE to go potty. Taking on the responsibilty of a puppy is very hard work and takes a lot of time and commitment. 70% of the time the parents DO end up picking up the slack of the child.

Think about this: a puppy costs a lot himself ($250 from shelter, $400 from bad breeder & $600+ from good breeder). Then you need to buy a crate or dog bed ($60), grooming supplies ($40), collar and leash ($20), food and water bowl ($20), training classes ($150), vaccintions (x3 = $70 each = $210), flea and tick prevention ($45), regualar vet check ($80), high quality food ($20 p/week every year) and many other expenses. Just those very basic items cost $645 and that is for the first week, not including the puppy himself. I don't think you know but how financially stable is your family? $645 is a LOT of money for ACCESSORIES and NECESSITIES. Your family could live off that money for almost 2 weeks.

Then you need to commit to the puppy for 10-15+ years. You need to exercise your dog twice per day, EVERY DAY no matter what the weather, you need to feed the dog high quality food so that he gets all his nutritional needs and stays healthy, you need to groom the dog anywhere from 1 hour each day to once per week, depending on coat length, you need to take the dog (as a puppy) to training classes, you need to socialize the puppy so that he doesn't grow up to be aggressive, shy or timid, you need to pay (usually) thousands in vet bills shall anything happen to your dog and you need to be there for your dog.

When you are 18 and your dog is 7 and needing you to help him through his senior years, will you be there to help your old (or sick) dog or will you be out dating guys/girls and hanging out with friends? Or will you have already left that job to your mum? Or were you forced to leave him at a shelter when he was 2 because he wasn't socialized, housebroken or trained? Or were you too lazy to continue looking after that dog that you wanted so much when you were 11?

You need to think long and hard about what I've said.

Well, you are asking for a huge responsibility because when you own a dog you have to feed it, clean up after it when it poops and pees, and walk it and your parents shouldnt be telling you to do those things that should be on your own. Start small with something like fish and when they see you can care for it without them having to tell you to take care of it meaning to feed it and clean the tank periodically. A lot of parents hand their kids things to be responsible for, but you also have to be consistent with it meaning you feed your pet when you get up and when you come home from school and making sure their environment is clean meaning the tank doesnt have algae growing on it or letting it get dirty because fish can die if the water is too contaminated with their waste so you have to change it periodically. Start with that and when you can show your parents you can handle a dog they'll reconsider it.

show them you are willing and have the time for a dog. they are a lot of work but it is rewarding.. maybe read some books about dogs, go down to the animal shelter and see if you can volunteer or volunteer at a rescue group.

If your parents still say no, you can still volunteer at the animal shelter or rescue groups, that way you still get to interact with animals.

Do you have any friends that are going on vacation, if you do ask them and you're friend if you can take care of their dog. Prove to you parents that you can take care of a dog. Most of the time that works on parents.Trust me.

Training your dog will be a huge part of your interaction with him for the first few months. Learn here https://tr.im/Wxmdm
This includes housetraining, leash training, obedience training, socialization, and problem solving. In addition to providing your dog with needed skills, this time will also be a great opportunity for you to bond with him. Take the time to really get to know your pet while training him and a loving relationship will easily develop.

Tell them all of the upsides of having a dog, and tell them you are willing to take care of it as much as you would with your chores. (And show some resposiblity around the house, that will show them that you are read to have a pet.)
