If you're a nominal practitioner of a religion, then you're involved in that religion in name only. For instance, if I were a nominal Catholic, it would mean that I could hardly ever be bothered to show up for Mass, wouldn't care if I took Communion or not, wouldn't even own a rosary, and generally couldn't get too excited about my faith one way or another. If I were nominally a member of the Democratic Party, I'd vote about once every decade or so, and wouldn't bother researching who was running in the election. It means that you're involved with a certain group, but just barely so.

Seeing how this Question is in the Religion & Spirituality Secetion may I draw the Conclusion that you mean as in "A Nominall Christian?

There is NO SUCH THING! You EITHER Are a Christian [John 3:3-to-8 = = John 7:38-39 = = Ephesians 1:13-17] OR You Are NOT A CHRISTIAN!

Just like being PREGNANT, You Either ARE PREGNANT or Your Are NOT PREGNANT!

Some PASTORS, use this word INTERCHANGERBLY with Carnal Christians, as was the Corinthians Church!

Thanks, RR
