I have read this website before and here is some information for you.
This website is in fact very real in as much that many commercial dog foods contain ingredients that ARE responsible for the death of many pets. Lower end foods like Iams/Eukanuba, Science Diet, Purina, Pedigree, Ol'roy, Royal Canin, etc contain ingredients such as:
-BHA/BHT, Ethoxyquin (proven cancer causing chemical preservatives)
-imported ingredients that are sprayed with pesticides (ie the recent problems with canned foods containing rat poison from China)
-by-products from rendering plants (preserved with chemicals, rotten meats, bacteria, etc)
-high concentrations of low quality ingredients causing diabetes, obesity, etc (corn, soy, wheat, peanut shells, beet pulp, pomace, etc)
And so on. Just as eating McDonalds every day would make you extremely sick, animals that are basically force fed (as they can't chose their own food) low quality foods everyday can become extremely sick and eventually die.
After reading this guys website...and being a pet food nutritionist, I almost purchased the book because I really want to know what his top foods are and how closely they allign with the top foods that I recommend. However, my brain won over, telling me that just the way all the information was presented (in a more marketing manner versus really trying to give objective information) told me that this was probably a scam.
So, what I'm trying to get at is that people really do need to hear that about what the pet food industry is all about (profit not health in most cases) but that this specific website should be taken with a grain of salt.
There are many reputable websites and books out there that will give you the same information without all the marketing garbage.
HOpe this helps...oh and I hope you can encourage your friends and family to buy healthy, holistic, human grade pet foods instead of the mass market grocery store/vet foods that have a possibility of making your pets sick.
Good luck.
PS Some good foods to follow up on are Innova, Solid Gold, Fromm, Merrick, Wellness, Flint River, Dick Van Pattens, Timber Wolf, Wysong, etc.

It's a scam to get you purchase their line of dog food or their book on how to make your own dog food.
It's been around for years. They just put it in another form of advertising! Especially now with all the recalls.

Personally, I feed my very healthy Lab 10yrs old Pedigree dry dog food. I have since she was a puppy. She has a beautiful coat, very nice teeth and a very happy and healthyy loving dog. I would not change food unless there was something wrong with her food,,if so I would make my own. I saw a recipe the other day..but I am sorry I dont have it handy..the main ingredient was rice i do know that.sorry but try the Pedigree its wonderful!

I think you are right the guy is taking the opportunity in this tragedy to make a buck. I think I'll wait and see what the investigations turn up.
