No rock n roll? Sex, drugs but no rock n roll...Hmmm, tell your parents they forgot the rock n roll part...
Seriously--they're just trying to keep you safe because they love you. And there ARE a lot of bad people out there, people that look completely normal but are....pervs, crack heads, and child molesters.
Listen to them kid, they know what they're talkin' about!

You are beginning to approach the age where you need to understand what is happening in the real world. Almost everything you see on the news or in many of the TV shows has to do with sex, drugs, and violence. Your parents are attempting to explain to you what the significance is of what you are talking about.

You're at the age where those topics should be discussed. There are too many young girls who are having sex, doing drugs, and are in gangs. Your parents love and care for you enough to let you be aware of all the horrible things that can happen. It's a good thing that they are open enough to talk to you because some parents can't relate to their children and that's when the trouble starts. So listen to them.

Because, I suppose, they figure they have to start you off at a young age to get these things ingrained in your mind: no sex, no drugs, no violence; but Yes to rock 'n roll.
Times are different from when your parents grew up. They probably worry you will fall in with a bad crowd or be influenced by your peers to do things they do not want you to do.

My parents never talked about it back when I was growing up. I wish they had.
It doesn't need to be a constant topic, but you need to be aware that there are
some not very nice people out there. There is a lot of drugs and violence. Talk
to your parents and ask them if it would be alright if you came to them if you had
questions. Things have changed and become more dangerous. Take care.

tell them you are a child and that talk is too heavy for you, its inappropriate, also tell your teacher, that talk may lead to something bad in your life at home. you do not need to discuss ONLY sex , drugs and violence all the time, tell them you need to be encouraged in life, you need to hear about the good in life, healthy issues. tell them they are taking your joy away. [as usual these other readers do not read every word] you said ONLY.

You know it's because to us parents, we know that society has gotten worse and there are so many harmful things out there that can take your life...such as diseases that can kill you or cause life long pain from having sex (because some diseases cannot be cured with medicine), and drugs that can cause brain damage forever or even death if you try them....they care about you very much and just want you to make the right choice when you are faced with those situations becuause almost everyone faces this situation at one point of time in their life...there are children and grown-ups out there right now who's parents never talked to them about these dangers. Those are the ones who are dead, in prison, or are suffering with diseases....and who knows maybe they wished someone could have told them about these things....be proud of your parents for teaching you and caring about you very much!

be glad your parents are open enough to talk with you. look at it this way....if your parents never said anything about sex, drugs and violence you'd be believing some silly 10 year olds who have everything all wrong because their parents didn't talk to them. what if your parents didn't say a word to you, one of your friends wanted you to try something or drink something and you went along with it, got sick, vomiting, wishing mommy and daddy were there...how would you feel?
your parents are doing what more parents need to do...talk with their kids.

They just want to make sure you know right from wrong and don't fall in with the wrong crowd in mid school. If it bugs you so much, you should explain to them that you know where they're coming from but they don't have to bring it up ALL THE TIME.
Don't expect it to totally stop though because it sounds like they are just being good parents.
