I really need a pull-out couch for my ultra tiny studio apartment. I need it so that my guests have some place to sit other than my bed when they come over and I and my boyfriend have a place to sleep, too. Thing is I am a broke college student who is supporting herself on a janitor's salary. I really can't afford to spend any more than $500.

As always, IKEA is the place to get very functional furniture for a great price. Here is a link to a sofa bed that looks like a couch, but is far more comfortable than the traditional sofa beds, which are extremely uncomfortable in my opinion, and only costs $220-350 or $110 to $240. Remember you'll need to allow for shipping if you don't have an IKEA close to you.

Whatever you do don't buy a sofabed from Jennifer Convertibles. They are a very unreliable company and their sofabeds are terrible. If I were you try Ikea.com or get their catalog if you don't have store near you, as they specialize in items for college students and their prices are great and they stand by their products. What you could buy is a futon, which serves as a couch and a bed but is less expensive. It is a different system than a sofabed, but would serve the purpose. Also Levitz furniture is a good source.
