HI Mary,
We read in Ephesians 5:33 "Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband." We do not require our spouses to follow us to the grave. I hope we want them to read, study, and think for themselves. The husband and wife should be studying GOD's WORD and making decisions that will affect them and their family for the remainder of eternity. GOD would not want it any other way. Have a great evening and a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

For petes sake..are we still living in the caveman days?? Oh..excuse me..I think they were more enlightened back then.

Of course wives don't have to "obey" their husbands. Yuck..what a distasteful thought. If the wife wants to go to a different church, or practice a different religion she has the complete right to do so. If she wants to dance under the night sky and call down the name of the Goddess Astarte she has the right to do so.

I know many couples who practice different religions who have a wonderful strong and loving relationship. My best friend is Wiccan and is married to a Christian and I am a Pagan married to a Muslim . Everyone is stable and comfortable enough in their own religion that they don't have to feel threatened by the others viewpoint.

I wish you the best of luck.

If your husband told you to jump off a bridge would you do it? My point is he has to prove to you that he has the proper church to start with.
The Bible says treat tour wife as yourself because he has someone in charge of him also. That is the Christ. Even Abraham listened to Sarah on occasion! "We are to love our wives as Jesus loves the congregation".
Hope I was of some help. Bill

I think a married couple should go to the same church and have the same beliefs, otherwise it will cause trouble, like it is in your question.

Edit: Here's where it says we are to be submissive to our husbands : Ephesians 5:22-23, 1Peter, 3:1-6 for starters

They better obey them if they want the marriage to work, I don't agree but it does say it in the bible, it says the man is the head of his home and the wife should obey him.

No, but you will recieve fiery wrath for standing up for yourself though.
A grown person is not supposed to have their own mind you know, especially a woman.
Doesn't it irritate you when people talk down to you, especially religious types, like your a mindless idiot or have gone mad because you can make your own decisions?

Under christian circumstances...

The wife better do what the husband says, because their God will not tolerate a woman choosing her own way. Lilith. That's what happened to Adam's first wife.

Well if he's christian..he is perfect right...thats what they are told anyway. Anyone different from them...well they are wrong..completely wrong no matter what. I think he needs to FEEL THE HAND OF GOD:)

I think she needs a divorce because he's an arrogant pr***. Everyone's relationship with the divine is going to be different. That's why it's considered a personal relationship, no?
