Once a week is too often... in the winter you should bathe your dog 1 time a month and in the summer 1 time every two weeks, any more and you will dry out your dogs skin.... Make sure to use an oatmeal based shampoo too... this will help with the itching....

Lap dogs should get a bath about once a month with a good dog shampoo. You might try a protein or an oatmeal base shampoo for the itchiness. If you're in a climate that is cold and the house is heated then the itchiness may simply be the caused by the dryness in the house. Wait until the weather changes before you do anything drastic like change diets or assume an allergy. In the meantime check for fleas and slow down on the baths. If he rolls in something nasty then you can give him an extra bath. Brush and comb him daily and that may help to reduce the scratching.

Assuming you Pomeranian has no skin issues, you can safely bathe him one a week with a shampoo formulated for gentle coat cleansing. Read the label to make sure the shampoo is formulated for frequent use.
He may be scratching due to frequent bathing, this can lead to overdrying of the skin. Try adding a remoistuizer after using the shampoo to add hydration to the skin and coat.

Oh my goodness. Every week? You should only bathe a dog 3 times per YEAR or unless very necessary (muddy, blood or otherwise advised by a vet). You are bathing him WAY too often and he is slowly losing all of his natural skin oils. You should take him to the vet and ask them what medicine/shampoo you should use to get back the oils in his skin. Please do not continue to bathe him at all this year. Trust me, he won't smell if you don't bathe him, just keep grooming him.

Every week is not too much to bathe your little "pom" :)
Dont use a cheap shampoo. Get something that is gentle and nourishing for the skin. If it works well for you than it should work well on little pom.

You can also use a gentle conditioner to help dry skin and ease the discomfort.

Very likely he is too dry from being bathed so often. Dogs have a protective coat on their fur that needs to be there to protect the fur and their skin. If you bath them all the time, you wash this off. Only bath when absolutely necessary.

Every time you think it looks dirty, or smells really bad, cuz I have a American esk. and why ur dog scratches is because It has oil on it's skin that helps keep it clean and if you bath it to much the natural oils disappear.
