This is a hard question to answer without more info about the type and location of the dining establishment you are serving in right now, but I will do my best. From my experience, the biggest thing that separates a dining room server from a lounge server is selling power and knowledge of the wine & spirits, beer, and food. It is probably a natural habit of yours to be OCD about table cleanliness, drinks not being empty, building rapport with your guest, and I am sure you understand the tip value of selling liquor, beer and wine, which is probably why you are being asked to move to the lounge. Typically the money in the lounge is greater then that in the dining room because people that drink stay longer, usually spend more and return to an atmosphere that is very hospitable to them (become your regulars). The biggest thing that I would work on in the lounge is feeling very comfortable selling the wine (wine/table service), spirits, and beer. Find a few bottles of wine and a couple of spirits and brush up on any info/specifics that you might of forgotten since your last service staff training, and then sell the heck out of those 4 items by describing some unique characteristics of the beverage until it becomes to easy. At that point, start over with another 4 items and sell the heck out of them in the same manor. Before to long, you will know a ton of interesting information about products at your bar/lounge and be able to upsell from a well whiskey to Knob Creek or even A.H. Hirsch because of your stories. Don't forget the lounge is the place where a person goes to have drinks when waiting for a table, winding down at the end of the day, or just enjoying the more upbeat atmosphere for dinner, which is a little different from the dining room. With the knowledge that you listed in the question, it sounds like you are already well on your way to becoming an excellent lounge server. Also don't be afraid to ask you manager what you should expect and what you should study. Hope this is helpful and don't forget "Stories on Products, Sell the Products."

First of all know that your appearance will get you the biggest tips in a lounge. Hate to sound shallow, but it's true. I would assume you know wine etiquette from the restaurant side. get a bar tender book and study the drinks names and ingredients . Also would be wise to ask the bar tenders what the most popular drinks are and how they are made, if they are made differently. It's not that big of deal, you'll catch on in no time. It never bugs me, when the cocktailer asks...hu? what? I just tell them whats in it and they write it down and take it to the bar.
Have fun!!!

Make sure you know proper wine service. Be aware of ALL the liquors you carry. You want to be able to suggest upgrades. Knowing interesting facts about a few wines and beers is impressive too. Like, Yeungling is from the oldest brewery in America.

i have met Ralph Nader, he's quiet and unassuming. at the same time as he speaks to a set of human beings he speaks of reality and justice. And, desirous to form our authorities that works for all its human beings, because it became meant to be. He speaks from inner pastime as someone who has committed very almost all his individual existence in conserving human beings from what could reason harm. he's a guy of significant intelligence, and potential. He hasn't ever swayed to the fringe of the wealthy, sensible, and grasping. i in my opinion discover it very nerve-racking there are those that condemn him for what he does. extraordinarily, at the same time as he fights for the common guy's, and in reality each guy's high quality of existence. yet then, at the same time as is existence honest. And, extraordinarily right here in u . s ., till the human beings awaken, the wealthy and sensible WILL proceed GET THEIR way!
