He's basically a Columbian Tony Stewart. He certainly isn't afraid to tell everyone what's on his mind. He's a very talented, yet aggressive driver with an arrogance about him. He comes from an open wheel background as did Smoke. He has been doing better than I expected him to do this soon but he did NOT make a bunch of friends at Bristol. I think people are starting to get the fact that he is not your average rookie and is not going to race like one either. I like Juan but if he is going to go off on Gordon for racing HIM so hard (when the 24 was not on the lead lap) last week he needs to watch the replay of Bristol to see himself doing that exact same thing to Tony and I'm sure many others. David Ragan really looked like an unsure rookie out there as well. How many cautions was he a part of, 5 or 6 maybe? All I know is every time it came out it was Juan Pablo, Ragan or both involved in it somehow.

I don't give a crap what his nationality is. I've got nothing against the guy and I could care less if he was "a pretty boy" or "a good ol' boy". I understand that he is a rookie but he needs to chill with his attitude.
At Atlanta he was getting upset at Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon because "They were in his way"! And then at yesterday's race at Bristol...he was hitting all of the drivers left and right. He needs to learn to respect the veterans of this sport.
He comes off as being a cocky driver. I think he thought that Nascar was gonna be super easy and that he was gonna jump in and begin to dominate. But he's gonna learn the hardway that dominating in Nascar these days is not easy! A lot of people who know nothing about Nascar think that it's just turning left...well sorry to burst your bubble but there is more to Nascar than just turning left. Whether or not you want to believe it...you have to have talent in order to succeed in this sport!
Also, wrecking your own teammate to win a race is not the way to get fans to like you. He wrecked his own teammate down in Mexico during the Busch race and he didn't even blink a eye...he wasn't even sorry that he took his own teammate out of the race.
I'm sorry..but I cannot and I will not cheer on drivers who are like that.

The fact that he is an outsider going into a southern conservative sport doesn't give him the best odds. I'm not saying that is why people dont like him but he doesn't help himself with his antics. When you are an outcast or very different from everyone else, the smart thing to do would be to drive clean and hang under the radar, but he was bumping everyone in bristol and not to mention his little fiasco with pruett in the busch race in mexico city. I think that Busch race itself turned a lot of people off on Montoya regardless of nationality.

I actually like him. I think that his talent is up there and has alot of potential. I don't care about nationality or manufactures. I just like the racing and he is interesting to watch. We can name a ton of driver's that should just step out of the car and move on, but I think he has the talent to succeed in Nascar.
Some of those driver's that should step out of racing.
Michael Waltrip
Morgan Shepard
Brian Vickers
Aj Almendinger
Kyle Petty
Stanton Barrett
Ward Burton
Robby Gordon
etc. etc.
I like some of these guy's, but to drive in Nascar they just don't have it.

I may take heat on this comment but here goes.
I'm not afraid to say it, Mon"toy"a "Toy"ota
Some people think NASCAR should have left the "toys" at the foreign playground.
Nothing negative against Juan He's a great circuit racer just not a NASCAR circuit racer....just like Toyota is a nice street racer but they are not NASCAR metal.
NASCAR is and has been "ALL AMERICAN" American cars and American "good ol' boys" driving em'. Most people aren't ready for the changes NASCAR has been implimenting...no matter how much you sugar coat it the NASCAR community for the most part are caucasion males from all corners of the country though the events started and dominate in the southern states. A more racially bias part of our country, who for the most part aren't ready for these changes. I'm not trying to offend anyone but the truth is the truth.....southern people hate change.

He's a rookie and he will struggle. He can have all the talent in the world but if Ganassi cannot put a decent car under him he will not be good. Tracks like Bristol, Darlington, and Martinsville will give him fits but they are not kind to any rookies. He's already shown he can perform at a high level but he has to get used to the heavier cars.

I don't know if they necessarily look down on Montoya, the ones that do not like him may want him to fail so NASCAR drivers look better then F1, but I think a majority of fans welcome him as a driver and respect what he has accomplished in F1. In most interviews he seems fairly laid back, but confident in his driving skills. He HAS finished in the top 5 (Atlanta) but like you said he is more then capable. I do think he will be successful but hes not gonna be another Stewart, Gordon, Kenseth.

Well, I'm a Nascar fan and I'm not "ugly" on Juan Montoya. Admittedly he is a good driver and proved it at the Busch race in Mexico City a couple weeks ago. My problem with Juan is lately he seems to be constantly hitting and taking out other drivers. Whether it's on purpose or rookie mistakes, I don't know. He just needs time to mature as a Nascar driver.

When some one becomes the medias child then people tend to make cracks about them.I have called him Panco Villa after the bump and run in Mexico.
But in honesty he is impressing me as pretty good driverin the full body car.
That's all I have to say about that.
