I am an Army soldier, some body was telling me that u can go reserve from active without finishing your contract? l've been active for 18 months, two more years to go...
l 'd go reserve if they'd let me...
is it impossible, is it possible?

Yes the form you must fill out is DD368

And i think a 0-5 has to sign it. Good Luck!!!!!

No. Not until your active duty time is up. It looks like you are on a 4year term so when you finish that 4 years you will automatically be placed in the in-active reserve for two years. You will also have the choice at that time of joining a reserve or national guard unit. In the in-active reserve you will not have to go to weekend drills and you will draw no pay but you will have to keep them updated on where you are living.

Its not impossible, I think (not 100% sure) you have a certain amount of time from when you first get out of basic training to go from reserve to active. I know that you can lose your bonus and depending on what rank you are, you can go down one. Good luck, active is the way to go in the military!

Talk to your chain, they have to release you to go active, but it is possible, you may lose your bonus.
