As TOMato says, heat the pan first then add oil and your food won't stick as much...a little sticking is unavoidable. Also stainless is not a bad cooking surface. GOOD stainless spreads the heat evenly (look for a copper bottom or insert) and you can cook at a lower temperature and get good results.

Food will stick to most surfaces when cooking. This is why it is important to place a barrier between the cooking surface and the food. That is why you grease the pan.
If you burn the food, it sticks to the pan. It is more difficult to control the heat in an electric burner and you are more apt to heat the food faster than you can move the food off the cooking surface by stirring (burning the food.) A gas flame does not place so many btu's in such a small area. It is easier to regulate and you are less likely to burn the food.

Depends on whether you prepare your pan properly or not [hot pan, cold fat], but having said that, stainless steel is just about the worst cooking surface.

Yes ...plain stainless is not non-stick .....you need to use cooking oil or butter or clarified butter or cooking spray to keep foods from sticking if you are using no liquid like stock, water, or a soup ....
Which is to say .... if you are frying or sauteeing or making scrambled eggs or burgers ... you must use oil or something ... crepes or pancakes ....same ...
To re-state it: if you are cooking something with a lot of liquid, no problem, but if you are sauteeing something, it does stick unless you use oil
