Skyscrapers can cause wind-tunnel effects in large cities such as New York City. This can lead to wind loadings on older buildings that were not designed for this type of wind loading when they were built. This is why wind tunnel tests are usually required on large buildings or buildings of irregular shape, so that we can see how the building affects it's environment.
