I know that is does take longer outside than it does in the tanning bed. When I lay out in my pool I usually lay out for an Hour (half hour on each side) When I go to the tanning bed I only stay in maybe 15 minutes and see more of a result.

It would take longer to tan outside for sure because the rays in the bed are much stronger than the sun. How much longer just depends on the person and their skin pigments. Consider the fact that tanning outside is a lot safer for your skin than tanning beds though.

You have to tan a lot longer outside than you do in a tanning bed. You can't really estimate because all tanning beds are different strengths, but i can tell you that if i went 20 minutes in the tanning bed i use, i would fry!!

Yes, you have to tan longer outside to get the same effect as being in a bed for 20 min. As for how long... it depends on the intensity of the bulbs and stuff.

i tan longer outside than in a tanning bed but tanning beds work for me, my skin just burns to the natural sun. Tanning in the bed is easier than outside, your closer to the sun in the bed. I don't know what the equivalent for outside is though.
