What are the major differences in sound? Reasons to choose one over the other?

I should have added that I know there is a 2" difference, sheesh, lol

I just want to know if the sound is going to be tighter hits? or what does it sound like compared to a 12.

Pro:
the 12" has more cone area. It will move more air, and be louder as a result - assuming it is the same model as the 10" Plus, big subs are sweet, yo. However, contrary to popular belief, the 12" subwoofer will not get "lower" than the 10". It will just be louder at low frequencies.

Con:
the 12" is bigger, heavier, needs a significantly larger box - which is a problem if you have limited room. In some cases they require more power, Although most 10's and 12's of the same brand use the same motors and require the same amount of power anyway.

The differance between a 10" and a 12" is the sound it puts out and the quality. a 12 will have a much lower bass when it pounds and a 10 will just have a hit thats going to be louder. it is not true that a 12 will be louder than a 10 but a 10 will not sound near as nice as a 12.

12s will hit harder than 10s. you also want to look at what kind of music your playing. if you like a lot a big bass stuff like rap go with 12s, if you like different types of music go for 10s. they sound a little cleaner and you save space. do you have a price your looking to stay around?

A 12 inch would have about 2 ounces more meat and the same for the lettuce tomato and mayo.

plain and simple. the 12 in will hit harder and put off more bass with less stress than a 10 in woofer. so pretty much in terms of sound the 12in will be better than the 10.

the 12 will produce more and deeper bass. the 10 will be tighter and faster moving. the 12 is generally considered to be the best all rounder.
