Why do public restrooms have split toilet seats?

an opening in the front...a U rather than an O as a toilet seat

Guys need the opening cause most of us don't realize we really aren't John Holmes and its cheaper to put in one type of seat for everybody so I guess you ladies are getting the "short" end of the shtick again!

The U shaped seats are cheaper to produce and thus cost less. This is probably why the U shaped seat is more common in public restrooms than the O shape.

I think it's because the open spot is where that nasty drip of pee, that pig people do not wipe up, lands.
