This may sound like a weird question but I've read that there is a chance of it spontaneously combusting while being used in oil painting. I want to use it as an Omega-3 oil and for my skin.

Flax-seed oil when ingested can mix with the nitrogen rich intestinal fluids creating a volatile compound. You must wait at least three hours after ingesting before exposure to any light source over 40 watts. The other concern is the residue that may be left in the urine that when mixed in the chlorine of the toilet water can make an extremely toxic gas, though not flam able. Flax-seed oil combustion has been linked to 127 deaths in the United States since the United States started tracking flax-seed oil combustion's. You are more likely to explode if you are of Irish decent, predominately the York and Cork regions.

woah..
I hope not.
That's the weirdest question ever. If you worry about flaxseeds exploding inside you, I bet you worry about a lot of other things too :D
Don't worry, you are safe, at least from spontaneous human combustion. But be careful of all the other genuine scary things out there...

There is no way.

People have been eating it for thousands of years.

Eating a watermelon seed is not dangerous, right? Stomach acid changes a lot of things.

In my experience, it'll give you gas that makes you THINK something has exploded inside your body...otherwise, no.
