I was a devout Christian, had been most of my life. I had my share of "back-sliding" but I always came back to the foundation of Christianity. I was so faithful and believed so fully that I was even able to convert an atheist. (My husband at the time).
Our marriage had its problems and was pretty much on a downward spiral within the first year. But I stuck it out. Until the day I found out he had been cheating on me with a parishioner in our church. It was the last straw. I decided I was past trying to salvage a marriage he didn't want to save and asked for a divorce. The church shunned me, embraced him, even knowing that he had cheated. How do you justify and embrace a person who broke one of the ten commandments and shun the person who was divorcing them BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAYS IT IS A VIABLE REASON int the eyes of god.
This is the experience with Christians and organized religion that made me start to question whether or not unquestioned faith was a good thing or a complete hinderance to the kind of person I longed to be.

My brother committed suicide because he got involved with a fundamentalist religion (the one with the crystal cathedral in California). They had such restrictive rules by which to live that he felt like a failure. They pretended to be a guiding light to salvation, but turned out to be a soul eroding force. After his funeral, his wife said, one thing you have to say about the church is that they take such good care of widows. I didn't get the chance to ask her how many widows they create.

Sounds like a lot of poor pitiful me answers. There's not one of us that has ever walked this earth that has not been wronged in some way. It's part of life, "butch up" accept it and move on.
Any one who puts all their trust in any church will get burned at some point. Put your trust in God and you will not go wrong. So many people leave the body because "someone" made them mad.
Put your faith in God!

Years ago, my mother gave me a bullet...a bullet, and I put it in my breast pocket. Two years after that, I was walking down the street, when a berserk evangelist heaved a Gideon bible out a hotel room window, hitting me in the chest. Bible would have gone through my heart if it wasn't for the bullet.
Hope it's a comedy

Nah. multiple the ideals contained in the Bible, in particular the previous testomony or Jewish Bible, are previous besides and as quickly as have been international ideals (ex. the international is flat). yet there is particularly multiple fact. in actuality, presently archeologists stumbled on evidence of a large flood happening hundreds of years in the past. Ever hear of Noah's Ark?

I was pressured to believe in Christianity even though I never did even as a young child so it slightly traumatised me emotionally I guess.
I later discovered the right faith for me and am spiritually happy now.
