US Army Basic Training, Fort Leonardwood, MI
Chow hall, Fall 1999, Week 5 - I am going to the Salad bar and as I'm getting some salad I hear some commotion to my right. A private, we'll call him Private Sniffles, bumps a Drill Sergeant, or something like that, and he stops and says, Who do you think you are? I quickly grab some salad and move away a bit. The private says absolutely nothing and keeps moving to the salad bar (oh boy!). The Drill Sergeant advances and says, I'm talking to you, Private! AT EASE, recruit! He says, okay, cries, and continues to move to the salad bar, but the DS throws Private Sniffles to the floor and says, At Ease, Recruit! Are you deaf? Stand up! Other Drill Sergeants see the commotion and move toward the area, so I abandon my salad plans and quickly move away and to my seat. By this time, three DS's are pounding him with pushes, orders, and questions, and he breaks with curses, so he is thrown onto the floor again. Sensing that our meal is coming to an end fast, I consume my meal faster. Private Sniffles is crying loud now and throwing punches and kicks, so the Drill Sergeants are on top of him and calling in the MPs. He is handcuffed and restrained while violently resisting, and cursing the Army, and taken out of the chow hall. The DS's turn to the battalion in the chow hall and say, Everyone out! A lot of food went into the trash in the next few minutes. The DS's challenged a lot of soldiers, as we took our trays to the trash can, but we maintained our military bearing. The rest of the food was thrown-up all over the grass outside. I never saw Private Sniffles again.

I was in The Corps right as Vietnam was ending and the rule against laying hands on recruits was not yet in place. It is nothing like it was but I've heard from some more recent marines that things still happen but nothing like it used to be. I saw a guy get spin kicked when standing at attention in the barracks by a DI who was some kind of a kung fu badass and saw a number of recruits get punched. I personally got punched in the gut pretty hard. I also saw a guy get led around by a string tied around his dick on the parade field with his pants around his ankles for screwing up a marching formation. FYI my platoon also had a guy jump from our 3rd story barracks down to the hard deck...we never heard if he lived or died, nothing was ever told to us and the DI's just went ahead with training like nothing had happened. Parris Island was not for the faint of heart back then.

I never saw, nor in 22 years I served did I ever hear of, any recruit disrespecting a boot camp company commander.
I knew two guys who jumped the fence at 2am determined to walk home from Great Lakes. The local cops had them back in time for breakfast.

Yes, I saw it when I went through OSUT for Infantry about 7 years ago.
A private we will call him " Snuffy" had a bad habbit of saying smart *** things to people. Each week in training they put someone in charge of your platoon. This is a peer(another recruit who is in your unit). What this is an attempt to do is teach leadership at the most basic level. Snuffy who was oppositionally defiant. Refused to obey the orders of the temporary platoon leader. Needless to say the Drill Daddy scuffed him up for what seemed like 12 hours. I just remember him crying and appologizing to the kid in our unit.
Another private in my unit.We have a cheesy video that they show everyone. It is like this is what we are , who we are, and what we do.
In the background music is the song " Im proud to be an American where atleast I know I am free." I am sure you all know this song.
The First Seargent said everytime I hear that songs it gives me chills. And this private responded from the back of the room, That song sucks! AND THAT WAS THAT and holy crap. The First Seargent Body Slammed that kid, and dragged him outside of the room. I dont remember ever seeing that kid again, I wonder what happened to him. I dont know.
I am sure it was

The closest I came to seeing someone "losing it" was during basic training at Fort Jackson.
We had gone into the gas chamber and had just removed the gas masks. I don't know what this girl was thinking, but I guess she didn't want to be in there anymore. She started to panic and tried to get out of the door. The DS grabbed onto her to stop her and she straight up decked him.
He didn't do anything that I remember, except keep her inside. I guess the burning eyes and mouth and the running nose were enough punishment for her.

I went through boot camp and Navy RTC San Diego, we were right by the marine boot camp, and the air port. One guy went nuts, tried to jump the fence, when all the RDC's saw him they pulled him off the gate, he then went into a Karate stance and said he knew Karate and would kick all their asses. To which one of the RDC was a seal and he backed down fast, he was taken away by security and promply processed out.

Yeah, in Navy boot camp we had a girl lose it and go after the RDC. It was actually scary because some of the recruits had to restrain the RDC from kicking her butt. Later, after the MPs had taken her away, she came back and tried it again. They had to give her a shot in the arm to get her out of there.

omg, this happened when my bro was at basic. way too funny, a kid wanted out incredibly bad so he got a few books about the Taliban and crazy crap like that to get kicked out the ds knew what he was doing so they ignored it and disciplined him and the rest of his group (pt not full metal jacket crap). this goes on for a while until he breaks down goes for the ds and the ds just grabs the little weirdo and tosses him like a rag doll lol! don't know what happened to him after that probably got his wish fulfilled.

Why do you care? Who gives a sh!t what that recruit does. It's between them and their drill instructors. Did the Marine Corps turn you down? You don't know anything about the Marine Corps so shut your c*m dumpster maggot.
