My nine year old had been poorly with a sore throat and cough for the last two weeks (we all got it) but has started to get better. I treated him with cough syrup and a children's paracetomol-based syrup.
This evening after showing me his teeth at bedtime, I noticed that his tongue looked like a white strawberry, covered in little red pin-prick spots. It didn't look 'dry, or coated.'
Anyone know what this might be?
Thanks.

Hi,it sounds like thrush, its not harmful but it can get quite painful, you can treat it with daktarin oral gel, which you can buy over the counter of any pharmacy, its a pleasant tasting orange flavoured gel for fungal and associated bacterial infections of the mouth and throat.

I agree with other answer it does sound like thrush, contact your GP and they will advise you on how best to treat it. Have they taken antibiotics recently? this can sometimes cause thrush.
