Why do so many people put so much stock in blood lines and fail to develope the bonds beyond blood?

Both are equally important. I believe we are all family.I think we should treat everyone with the same love.

Sometimes your blood kin will stab you in the back quicker than a stranger. The bond has to be there. If you have that bond with someone who is also a blood relative, well and good. But you can be just as closely bonded with someone who is not related.

Family by bond,,,I have a brother in law who I feel closer to
than my own ''blood'' brother.However having said that I feel a little guilty,,,that must be the blood bond,,,

I can't honestly say which one is more important,,

Bond. My husband is more family to me than my parents will ever be. Blood means nothing, in my experience.

Bond. Blood relatives always take advantage of you if you don't have a bond with them. I have friends who I consider family. We have that strong of a bond.

I have both, and i love them both equally, having been adopted by several, and a foster parent of 23, I look forward to the great reunion.

I am adopted. After my mother died, my father turned his back on me and my son. To me, my son, my only blood relative, is more important.

Family by bond. you can have an uncle or a parent that is a pedophile...they would be dead to me.
