I believe you have to purchase insurance for extra money, but it can be done with a credit card. Most rental companies do not automatically give you it its like an extra $40. However, I do suggest spending the extra money b/c my Boyfriend got in an accident last summer in a rental and it was minimal damage...BUT he did not have the insurance and it cost us 800 out of pocket!!!!! Your choice but from now on we say "Better safe than VERY sorry!" If you still question whether they include it go to the rental website and look around it should tell you or worse case scenerio call the place u rented the car and they can tell you if you got it or not...then im pretty sure you can add it to the charges right over the phone.

Depends on the company issuing the card. Usually Gold and higher will provide insurance that is secondary to your primary personal auto policy that extends to rental cars. They usually will for your deductible and loss of use of the rental car also.

A gold or platinum MasterCard may provide collision coverage, it likely doesn't provide any liability coverage or loss-of-use coverage. Every card provider has wordings specific to the underwriter used.

It depends on what kind of card you have. Usually gold or platinum covers insurance, but you have to check with the card issuer to be sure. If you own a car and have car insurance with full coverage, check with your insurance company to see if they will cover the rental car. They ususally do.
