I always stoped breeding my females at the end of their 6th year. I had large breed dogs so if it is different for small dogs than I am sure someone here will tell you. Also it depends how often your bred her too.
I still think 6 is a good age to just stop!

I would call a reputable breeder to ask that question.....but I think it would have to do with her health also. I do not advocate breeding of any kind but if you are thinking of doing it and the dog is a "senior" I would definitely find out first. I would be remiss if I didnt then say....Please do not breed her...spay her and add a lot of years to her life....she deserves that much for bringing another life into the world let alone many other lives....

If you must breed, you should start when she is 2 years old and stop when she is 4-5 years old. She should only have a maximum of 2 litters in her lifetime. One when she is 2 or 3, then again when she is 4 or 5. Already leave 2 heat cycles before you mate her again.

Given that millions of dogs are euthanized every year, and there are curently over 550 dogs listed as Pekinese breeds or mixes looking for homes on petfinder.com, I would say that NOW would be a perfect time to stop breeding your dog.

I would not breed past age 8, though some will go as long as 10 yrs. If your dog has never been bred don't start after 6 for sure, and usually after 3 or 4. too hard to deliver . but if they have been bred early, 8 is about it for their health etc.

Probably around the end of 5 or 6 year. But once you stop, make sure you have her spayed.
