We just moved to Peachtree City last year from out of state, but his business is relocating to where 75 and 20 meet. Where could I find a somewhat inexpensive and safe place to live that would be a short commute for him? Any details you could provide would be welcomed.

If buying a house...best bet would be east Atlanta which is just along i-20 but inside the perimeter. Beautiful older homes in an area that is quickly coming around and good appreciations. Prices range from $100k - 400k but typically avg aroudn $200k. If simply looking for an apartment...there are a number of nice places in Virginia Highlands and Midtown that would be suitable. Apartments in Midtown will avg $800-1000 for one/two bedrooms. I wouldn't recommend living in suburbs with his job there because traffic is so bad in this city. He'll hate it.

fyi...you said "safe" and "relatively inexpensive"...while there are some bad parts of town, I have lived here for 34 years and never had a bad incident living in the city. Just be smart and keep an eye out. It's just a fact of city life. Regarding expense..there are plenty of cheap midtown apartments that are around but the cheaper they are, the more likely they are going to be in a transitional neighborhood. Good luck.

Look in the Inman Park/North Highland. There is a lot of new construction going up in that area and it would be very easy to get to where your husband works from that area. Other areas to consider are Atlantic Station and Grant Park/East Atlanta.
